How to Change the Graphic for Your Player-Character (PC) I have found quite an interesting trick that I have been experimenting with lately. I am not quite sure if anyone has tried it yet. Basically, it changes the graphic of YOUR PC. I am not sure how much you would support this Jeff, but the instructions are semi-easy. For Windows: You are working with bmp files! All you have to do is open the scenario editor folder and find a set of bmps that look cool (e.x. the group with the champion, empire dervish, ect.). Then, select and copy them into the bmp file by the name of "Pcs". Before you paste them into the file, take a look at how there are the normal PCs on the right and the attacking PCs on the left. I am not quite sure what painting program you are using so I will give the basic description using Microsoft Paint. You will need to divide your chosen set of characters in half. You will need one half where they are just walking, and another where they are attacking. Simply copy the one half, paste it into Pcs on the far right side, copy the attacking half, and paste that on the right side of the screen where the pictures of the attacking PCs begin. Play the game, choose a PC graphic they should appear centered in the boxes (if it doesn't, you haven't alligned the pics correctly), then try moving the character to the right and left to make sure he is alligned correctly. Try attacking with your character. If everything is centered correcty you have done a great job. I have had a fun time alligning things also because I do not know the dimentions of the slots Jeff uses. Quite a pain when it comes to custom graphics. Does anyone know how this works? [Note from Spiderweb: Read Article #3: Making a Custom Graphic for exact directions. The size of a tile is 28x36.] For Mac (yes I have one of them too!): *This will be a bit easier than for PC, however, you will need a freeware program called ResEdit. Open ResEdit and go into the Blades folder, the scenario editor folder, and finally open the Blades of Exile Graphics. Look for the slot with the pictures of your PCs. Now, you will want to look for some neat graphics to replace them with. I will use the group with the Champion, Empire Dervish, ect. Open the slot with the groups of characters you choose. Hit copy and close the window. Now go back to the slot with the PCs. Open that slot and paste. Now you will have to scroll down a bit to find the slot with the attacking PCs. Open the slot and copy these graphics. Scroll back up to the slot of the attacking PCs, open it, and paste the attacking graphics. Now it is time to test them in Blades of Exile. Open the program and notice that the graphics should be centered in each slot. Move right and left to make sure. Now try to attack. Everything should be centered. Uh-oh! My graphic isn't here! The graphic you wanted may have been to far down and Blades doesn't read the slots that low in the PC graphic slot. This is quite a pain to correct and I haven't come up with an effective way of correcting this. I can not figure out the dimentions Jeff uses for the character slots. If someone knows please e-mail me! If anything is not working right with the graphics PLEASE e-mail me at MFlick46@aol.com. I am glad to answer questions! -MFlick [Note from Spiderweb: If you have problems finding ResEdit, you can also use a program called Resorcerer.]
